Change is constant and Dr. Weiss is always looking for ways to innovate and master procedures that will shorten and improve his patient’s overall recovery. As an example, he performs valve repairs and replacements – frequently multiple valves – through a minimally invasive right-sided approach. This is his preferred approach over sternotomy.

For the last three years Dr. Weiss has been the number one top aortic valve implanter of the most frequently implanted surgical valve in the United States.  He performed over over 10,000 surgeries throughout his career.

Aneurysm surgery including root reconstruction is extremely technically challenging and requires a surgeon with extensive expertise and experience.  Often these can be performed in a minimally invasive way.

Complex Aortic Arch Reconstruction

This procedure is recommended for someone who is diagnosed with aneurysm or dissection involving the aortic arch and requires a unique approach to circulation management pioneered and perfected at our institution.

Minimally Invasive Aortic Valve Repair/Replacement

A replacement of a poorly working aortic valve with an artificial valve or repair of the patients own native valve frequently without open heart surgery. The aortic valve is one of four valves, which helps blood flow into the heart’s four chambers and then throughout the body.

Complex Reoperative Heart Surgery

This procedure is just as it’s worded and includes many types of procedures – it’s a repeat or redo heart surgery that helps the heart perform more efficiently in order to improve the patient’s quality of life.

Minimally Invasive Mitral Valve Repair/Replacement

Blood flows from the lungs, enters a collecting chamber and then into the final pumping chamber of the heart. The mitral valve is located between these two chambers and this procedure makes sure the blood keeps moving throughout the heart in the right direction.

Valve Sparing Aortic Root Replacement and Surgery for Connective Tissue Disorders

This surgery is used to treat aortic root aneurysms, prevent aortic dissection and repair the patient’s natural aortic valve. It is frequently used to provide successful treatment of connective tissue disorders.
